{"id":1101,"date":"2023-10-19T16:34:03","date_gmt":"2023-10-19T16:34:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aetf.com\/?post_type=news&#038;p=1101"},"modified":"2024-01-11T18:08:18","modified_gmt":"2024-01-11T18:08:18","slug":"ask-for-a-ppo","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.aetf.com\/news\/ask-for-a-ppo\/","title":{"rendered":"Ask for a PPO"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ask for a PPO<\/h1>\n<h5 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tell Your Providers WHERE You Want Care<\/h5>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unless you tell them, how will your providers know you want to get care at a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) within the Municipality of Anchorage?<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Surgery in your future?<\/strong> Discuss these PPO options with your doctor:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alaska Regional Hospital (ARH)<\/li>\n<li>Alpine Surgery Center<\/li>\n<li>Alaska Surgery Center<\/li>\n<li>Surgery Center of Anchorage<\/li>\n<li>Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, AK<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Having lab tests?<\/strong> Ask your provider to send blood, urine, culture, biopsy, or other samples to ARH.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Need an imaging test?<\/strong> Ask for a referral to ARH for X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, mammograms, or any other imaging tests.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Physical therapy ordered?<\/strong> Request one of these providers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chugach Physical Therapy<\/li>\n<li>Ascension Physical Therapy<\/li>\n<li>Alaska Hand Rehabilitation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Out-of-Network Penalty Adds Up\u2026Fast<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you use a non-PPO provider for services that are available at a PPO within the Municipality of Anchorage, you will pay more. Here\u2019s why:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The amount the Plan pays for covered services (the \u201callowed amount\u201d) is the PPO rate or 50% of the charges.<\/li>\n<li>The Plan\u2019s PPOs within the Municipality of Anchorage limit their charges for covered services to the PPO rate.<\/li>\n<li>Non-PPO providers within the Municipality of Anchorage may charge what they\u2019d like, but the Plan will only allow up to 50% of their charges. Plus, Plan payment on the allowed amount is reduced by 20%.
