December 2025 | Notice on Merger of Health & Welfare and Legal Fund https://www.aetf.com/news/notice-of-pending-merger-of-alaska-electrical-health-and-welfare-fund-and-alaska-electrical-legal-fund/ Thu, 18 Dec 2025 16:32:54 +0000 https://www.aetf.com/?post_type=news&p=2245 A copy of this notice was mailed to employers on December 17, 2025.

Notice of Pending Merger of Alaska Electrical Health and Welfare Fund and Alaska Electrical Legal Fund

December 2025

At the fall meetings, the Boards of Trustees of the Alaska Electrical Health and Welfare Fund and the Alaska Electrical Legal Fund entered into an agreement to merge the two trusts into a single trust effective January 1, 2026. The surviving trust will be known as the Alaska Electrical Health and Welfare Fund (AETF Health and Welfare Fund).

No Change in Legal Plan or Health and Welfare Plan Benefits

This action was taken after considerable study by both Boards and in an effort to access efficiencies and economies of scale with respect to Fund operations and investments. The AETF Health and Welfare Fund will continue to provide all benefit plans formerly sponsored under the two Funds separately.

There is no change to either Legal Plan or Health and Welfare Plan benefits as a result of this merger with respect to eligibility or benefits. Participants covered by bargaining agreements or other agreements providing for contributions to the Legal Fund will continue to have access to Legal Plan benefits; those that do not, will not automatically become eligible for Legal Plan benefits as a result of the merger.

The Administrative Office will continue to administer both Plans as it has prior to the merger date. Going forward the Board of Trustees of the AETF Health and Welfare Fund will be the plan administrator for both Plans.

Remittance of Contributions

Contributions bargained to the provide Legal Plan coverage will be received by the AETF Health and Welfare Fund.

All contributions will continue to be processed by the Administrative Office in the same timely and accurate manner as before the merger. Participants will not experience any disruption in benefits or services as a result of this change in the remittance process. Over time, we suggest that the bargaining parties revise references in their collective bargaining and special agreements to reflect the new sponsorship of the Legal Plan by the AETF Health and Welfare Fund.

April 5, 2024 | New system to improve the employee reporting process for AETF https://www.aetf.com/news/new-system-to-improve-the-employee-reporting-process-for-aetf/ Tue, 23 Jul 2024 16:45:14 +0000 https://www.aetf.com/?post_type=news&p=1683 Alaska Electrical Trust Funds (AETF) has partnered with Corellian Software to implement an online electronic payroll reporting system, EPRLive.

EPRLive is being used across the country by thousands of employers already, and provides an efficient, easy to use reporting platform. The great news is that once you have switched to this new online platform you will no longer have to fill out Excel templates or mail paper reports! Benefits of switching to EPRLive:

  • A user-friendly interface that allows you to upload, review, and edit your reports online
  • A secure and reliable system that protects your data and ensures compliance with the latest DOL regulations
  • A faster and easier way to submit your reports and payments electronically
  • A real-time feedback and support system that helps you resolve any issues or errors

The rollout of this platform will begin on June 1, 2024 with the employers who are signatory to the construction agreement – and will eventually be extended to all other contributing employers to the Trust.

We are currently in the process of finalizing the details and testing the new platform.

Employer’s signatory to the construction agreement will receive an email from me on Monday with instructions on how to access and set up your user account on the new platform.

We will provide all employers with more information on the progress of this transition and opportunities to switch to the new platform in the coming months.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we make this transition.
